Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Pay: $74,642.88
Essential Functions:
- Complies with all Agency policies and procedures and follows contract specifications
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to assist SFLC ALD with transportation services to include, but not limited to:
- Review electronic data interchange between the commercial carrier package services online booking system, such as FEDEX.com, and the Coast Guard’s supply and financial management system, currently NESSS.
- Transactions that do not electronically transfer will be manually inputted from FEDEX.com system into NESSS.
- Respond to customer shipment status inquiries using a variety of automated systems including NESSS, FEDEX.com, and the SFLC Web Application Portal (SWAP) Warehouse Shipping (Traffic) Database.
- Maintain tariff files, special quotations, publications, billing guides, or similar freight classification, rating, and routing guides; codes, classifies, cross-references, files and locates, and refile this material.
- Compile data concerning carload, truckload, LCL's (less than carload) and LTL's (less than truckload), classification ratings, size and use of carriers' equipment ordered, etc.
- Assemble and organize material for billing and shipping guides to be issued by their office.
- Prepare bills of lading, reviews the rates and routes, using easily accessible information.
- Perform elementary rating, routing and classification duties.
- Pre-audit freight bills for correctness.
- Experience working with shipping logistics infrastructures, Government Bills of Lading, Commercial Bills of Lading, or other shipping manifests.
- Experience working with commercial carrier package services online booking systems, such as FEDEX.com and UPS.com.
- Minimum two years of experience with transportation and inventory management processes and procedures.
- Minimum two years of experience with transportation and inventory management software.
- Provides work timely and accurately in accordance with contract and policies
- Ensures customer satisfaction
- Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties
- Attends work regularly according to assigned work schedule
- Wears ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this contract
- Follows instructions
- Attends and participates in meetings and activities to facilitate professional development

- Passes and complies with rules for the site, security and safety guidelines and Chimes District of Columbia Rules for the Workplace, and ensures others do the same
- Complies with dress code and personal hygiene standards
- Passes and complies with CPR/First Aid training
Secondary Functions:
- Ability to determine appropriate classification for various items or commodities by reference to published classification guides.

Physical Abilities Needed to Meet Work Demands:
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time

Other requirements:
- Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive
- License must have been valid for at least 3 years
- Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency’s insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures
- Complete a background investigation of at least a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) with dates on file.
- Be able to obtain and maintain, Low Risk, Non-Sensitive, Physical/Logical Access, HSPD-12 Credentialing.
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to travel as may be required, on a limited basis, to support this task. Locations will be CONUS, Alaska and Hawaii, and may include site visits to various Coast Guard units.
Essential Personnel:
This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.
Education:
- College degree preferred
- Knowledge about regulations for MSDS, Fire and Safety, Hazard Communications and Bloodborne Pathogens
- Valid CPR/FA certification preferred
Experience:
- Experience working with Fleet Logistics System (FLS), Naval and Electronics Supply Support System (NESSS), FEDLOG, CG-LIMS Surface Technical Information Portal preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong analytical skills required
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
