Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:
The Freight Operations Head - Sea/Ocean is responsible for leading and optimizing all ocean freight operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role drives the deployment of innovative solutions, enhances team capabilities, and ensures alignment with global standards and business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The role is responsible for leading and developing the Ocean Freight team by ensuring proper manpower planning, training, coaching, and employee engagement while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. The position oversees end-to-end ocean freight operations, including solution design, customs compliance, customer satisfaction, profitability, process optimization, and KPI management for both import and export activities. It also involves close coordination with regional hubs, vendors, brokers, and internal departments such as Sales, Finance, IT, HR, and Operations to support efficient and compliant freight operations. The role acts as a key user for freight management systems and operational tools, ensures accuracy of operational and business data, monitors financial performance and budget targets, and supports pricing strategies and customer solutions in collaboration with local, regional, and global stakeholders. In addition, the position ensures adherence to regulatory and QHSE standards while maintaining strong communication across the the network and supporting strategic business growth initiatives.
