Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
Contacts potential and existing customers to solicit new brokerage business linesDevelops relationships with shippers and/or truck lines to generate additional revenue.
Works with Inbound Freight to arrange transportation using brokerage fleet. Analyzes all brokerage business to determine if there are additionalopportunities and negotiates rates to ensure profitability.
Utilizes computer systems to negotiate rates, book loads, track, and follow up with driver and customer on brokerage contracts. Answers questions, resolves shipping errors, tracks freight activity from pick-up to delivery, and researches related problems to achieve desired results.
Assists the department in general office functions including but not limited to answering incoming calls, performs customer service and handles problems following up with response quickly and efficiently, makes copies, monitors incoming faxes, compiles and distributes paperwork, and data entry.
Processes billing exceptions and freight claims including lumper fees, detention, shortages, and damaged product to ensure proper freight charges. Reviews third party billing for all brokerage activity before it is invoiced.Maintains brokerage customer files with appropriate documentation
Works with Metafile to ensure accuracy of ship points and pallet counts.Monitors PDI accounts payable records to keep track of freight income. Assists in moving SKU’s.

Education and Experience:
High school education or equivalent requiredCollege education in related field preferred.
1 year minimum of logistical or dispatch experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This job is consideredsedentary to light in nature according to the Department of Labor Weight Classifications with primary functions being sedentary in nature.Frequent handling, grasping, pinching, full reaching motions occur, listening, talking, hearing, fingering of paper, files and use of computer requiring finger dexterity
