External Job Title: Freelance Item Development Professional Assessment Services

Location: Remote

Reports to: Content Development Manager

Summary

Prometric is developing an end-of-course assessment for Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses intended for a non technical audience to provide a clear, practical understanding of what AI is, what it can and cannot do, and how AI can be used in everyday life. Individuals who pass the assessment will earn a micro credential.

Freelance Item Development Professionals will work with the Assessment Development team to develop assessment content for a beginner-level, non-technical Artificial Intelligence (AI) assessment. Item Development Professionals play a critical role in reviewing course materials, identifying key learning outcomes, and creating high-quality assessment items that accurately measure learner knowledge and skills.

This role focuses on assessment development rather than AI expertise. Item Development Professionals will work from provided course content, learning objectives, and item-writing guidelines to develop assessment items aligned to the credential framework. Advanced knowledge of AI is not required; success in this role is based on the ability to analyze educational content, apply sound assessment principles, and write clear, valid, and reliable items.

Item Development Professionals work on a piece-rate basis for course content review and item development and an hourly-rate for additional tasks.

Note: Subject matter expertise in artificial intelligence is not required for this role.

Main Duties

• Completing AI course material prior to commencing work –16 hours
• Completing item writing training packages prior to commencing work
• Authoring test items for AI assessments
• Reviewing and editing items according to guidelines and feedback
• Reviewing forms and participating in Standard Setting activities
• Attending and actively participating in online training sessions and item review workshops
• Following test specifications and item writing best practices
• Adhering to test security protocol and safeguarding confidentiality
• Meeting content deadlines and managing assignment workload
• Communicating effectively with the Assessment Development team
• Working from a secure and private work location

Qualifications

• Exceptional English writing and editing skills and ability to apply feedback
• Ability to author, review, and edit AI assessment content
• Experience analyzing course materials and aligning assessments to learning objectives.
• Item writing experience is required

Start Date TBD (window - End of September to Beginning of October)

Pay Rates $500 flat rate to complete the AI course material (up to 16 hours to complete).

$50 per hour for meetings and workshops, $35 piece rate for item writing per approved item, $15 piece rate per item for item review.
