The Role

The Fraud Investigator I role is designed for individuals with some experience in trust and safety, fraud analysis, or related fields. This role involves handling complex assignments and taking ownership of fraud investigation processes. You will work with fellow Analyst II and team leads to work on a variety of fraud investigations across multiple products.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Conduct Data-Driven Investigations: Perform detailed research on suspicious activity using core tools (Castle, Amplitude, and Metabase) to identify risk based on established playbooks.
• Detailed Case Documentation: Maintain rigorous documentation of investigative findings, producing clear and concise summaries to support suspicious activity reporting and audit requirements.
• Core Queue Management: Monitor real-time fraud queues to identify and mitigate high-risk transactions within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Internal Team Collaboration: Partner closely with L2 Investigators and Team Leads to escalate complex cases and ensure a unified response to emerging fraud trends.
• Procedural Feedback: Execute internal operating procedures and provide tactical feedback to L2/L3 leads on process gaps or system inefficiencies identified during active investigations.
• Policy Execution & Application: Apply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to daily investigations, ensuring all actions align with current fraud policies and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring to the Team

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 1+ years of experience in operations, fraud investigation, accounting or finance
• Ownership mentality
• Strong Excel and or SQL skills
• Banking or Fintech background
• A curiosity to solve complex problems in an ambiguous environment
