Celero Commerce is looking for a Fraud Investigator to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing merchant activity with the primary goal of protecting Celero, our merchants, and consumers against credit card fraud. You’ll play a critical role in identifying potential risks, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and mitigating fraud exposure across our portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily exception queues for potentially fraudulent activity, excessive chargebacks, and approved processing parameters.
  • Analyze processing trends for possible fraud and recognize merchants approaching pre-set thresholds.
  • Conduct re-reviews and initiate investigations as needed.
  • Create and track cases in internal systems, documenting investigation outcomes.
  • Educate merchants on proper card acceptance methods and industry rules.
  • De-escalate situations and handle potentially difficult interactions over phone and email.
  • Provide operational assistance throughout Celero Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Mastercard and Visa regulations as well as internal underwriting and risk procedures.
  • Report directly to the Risk Manager and/or Director of Risk Management and escalate cases when necessary.
  • Work closely with sales channels to escalate investigations to the appropriate teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Attention to detail and a strong ability to detect abnormal trends.
  • Ability to analyze financial documentation and make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with the chargeback process and ability to articulate information to merchants and partners.
  • Experience working with risk platforms is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills via phone and email with internal teams, merchants, and partners.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems and manage cases efficiently.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to meet or exceed daily, monthly, and annual quotas.
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
