Fraud Investigator – 6-Month Contract

An exciting 6-month contract opportunity is available for an experienced Fraud Investigator to join a leading financial services organisation.

We are looking for a hands-on investigator with strong experience in conducting fraud and criminal investigations, managing cases from initial referral through to conclusion, gathering and analysing evidence, conducting stakeholder interviews and producing comprehensive investigation findings.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fraud professional who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and can manage multiple investigations while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate criminal, ethical, tip-off and fraudulent incidents
• Examine relevant records, documentation and supporting evidence.
• Conduct interviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage investigations ranging from minor infringements to complex fraud cases
• Prioritise cases according to their potential for meaningful investigation outcomes.
• Ensure cases are accurately and timeously loaded onto relevant case management systems
• Maintain accurate case, exhibit, order and investigation registers.
• Conduct investigations in accordance with applicable legislation, standards and internal requirements.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to maximise recoveries
• Prepare clear, accurate and comprehensive investigation findings and reports.
• Liaise and collaborate with law-enforcement agencies where required.
• Ensure subpoenas, information requests and investigation deadlines are met.
• Build effective working relationships across business, finance, credit, human capital and other support functions.
• Participate in internal fraud forums and share relevant information and insights.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven hands-on fraud investigation experience
• Experience managing investigations from initial referral through to closure.
• Strong evidence-gathering and document-analysis capabilities.
• Experience conducting formal investigative interviews.
• Strong case-management and investigation administration skills.
• Excellent report-writing ability.
• Sound understanding of fraud investigation processes and applicable legal requirements.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple investigations and strict deadlines simultaneously.
• High levels of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.

Highly Advantageous

• Previous banking or financial services fraud investigation experience
• Experience investigating complex financial or criminal matters.
• Experience engaging with SAPS and/or other law-enforcement agencies
• Exposure to subpoenas and formal evidence requests.
• Experience with fraud recoveries.
• Experience using formal fraud or investigation case-management systems.
• Relevant forensic, fraud, criminology, legal, risk or investigation qualifications/certifications.

Contract Details

This is a 6-month contract position, making it particularly suitable for an experienced Fraud Investigator who is available at short notice and ready to contribute from the outset.
