The Fraud Analyst will support the business in identifying, investigating and preventing fraud across Three Ireland's customer and product journeys.The role will combine fraud investigation, data analysis, monitoring and control improvement, helping to identify emerging fraud trends and ensure appropriate controls are in place across customer acquisition, orders and account activity.
The successful candidate will work closely with Fraud, Credit Risk, Finance, Technology, Data and Commercial teams to protect customers and the business from financial loss and evolving fraud threats.
This is a hands-on analytical role suited to someone who is naturally curious, enjoys investigating unusual activity and wants to develop a career in fraud and risk.
What else it involves:Fraud Monitoring & InvestigationMonitor customer and transaction activity for indicators of fraudulent behaviour.Investigate potentially fraudulent orders, accounts and customer activity.Escalate significant or emerging fraud risks to the appropriate member of the Fraud & Credit Risk Team.Fraud Analysis & InsightAnalyse fraud performance and identify trends, patterns and emerging threats.Produce regular reporting and MI covering fraud volumes, losses, acceptance rates, detection rates and other key performance indicators.Investigate changes in fraud rates or customer behaviour and identify potential root causes.Support analysis of fraud by product, channel, journey, customer segment and other relevant dimensions.Use data to identify opportunities to improve fraud detection and reduce unnecessary customer friction.Support ad-hoc analysis and investigations requested by the Fraud & Credit Risk team.Fraud Rules & ControlsSupport the review and optimisation of fraud rules and controls.Monitor the performance of existing fraud controls and identify where improvements may be required.Assist with testing new fraud rules, strategies and system changes.Analyse false positives and identify opportunities to improve the balance between fraud prevention and customer experience.Support the implementation and monitoring of new fraud controls in response to emerging threats.Maintain appropriate documentation of fraud controls and their intended purpose.Emerging Fraud Threats Support investigations into new threats such as account takeover, identity fraud, synthetic identity, eSIM fraud, SIM swap and social engineering.Share relevant findings and intelligence with the wider Fraud & Credit Risk team.Help identify new indicators that could be incorporated into fraud detection strategies.Support the team in responding quickly to significant changes in fraud patterns.Data & ReportingExtract, manipulate and analyse fraud-related data from relevant business systems.Use tools such as SQL, Excel and Power BI to investigate and communicate findings.Translate analytical findings into clear, practical recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.The Skills were looking for:
EssentialExperience in an analytical, investigative, risk, fraud or financial services environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and an ability to identify unusual patterns or inconsistencies.Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data.Ability to investigate a problem, establish the relevant facts and reach a logical conclusion.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple investigations or priorities.A curious mindset and willingness to challenge unusual activity.DesirableExperience working in fraud, financial crime, payments, telecommunications or another risk environment.Experience using SQL.Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/visualisation tools.Experience working with fraud detection or decisioning platforms.Experience investigating account takeover, identity fraud, payment fraud or subscription fraud.Knowledge of fraud prevention techniques, rules-based decisioning or customer authentication.Experience working in an Agile environment.
