Fraternal Intern

Make a meaningful impact this summer while gaining hands-on experience in strategy, communication, events, and member engagement. As a Fraternal Intern at Modern Woodmen, you’ll support projects that help strengthen communities, improve member experiences, and bring our fraternal mission to life while building practical skills in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

Modern Woodmen of America is one of the nation’s largest fraternal benefit societies, with assets over $18 billion. Fraternals are unique membership organizations that pair the “member-owned” characteristic of a mutual insurance company with the “social mission” characteristic of a service organization. They unite individuals with common bonds, provide a variety of life insurance and investment products, and form one of the nation’s most effective volunteer networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Support chapter setup and transition activities related to the new chapter model.
  • Help validate new processes and workflows, identifying opportunities to improve training, communications, and program implementation.
  • Compile, organize, and analyze survey and participant feedback data to identify trends, best practices, and actionable insights.
  • Assist with large-scale event planning and coordination.
  • Collect member stories, testimonials, and impact narratives that highlight the value and impact of fraternal.
  • Support fraternal strategy and change management initiatives through research, project support, and cross-functional collaboration.

What we need:

  • Third- or fourth-year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, communications, data analytics, marketing, training/development, hospitality, nonprofit management, or another related field.
  • Strengths in managing and analyzing data, customer experience/service, volunteer engagement, project management, communications, research, or similar areas.
  • Curious, adaptable, detail-oriented, and passionate about serving others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

What we offer:

  • Internship program information: Modern Woodmen’s summer internships are ideal for current college students interested in exploring the financial services industry. The program offers an opportunity for students to gain real-life work experience related to their studies while connecting with a mentor in their field.
  • Pay: The hourly pay for this position is $00.00. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment-based sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time, nor can we guarantee future sponsorship.
  • Work Arrangements: This is a full-time, 11-week office focused summer internship position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7 a.m.-9 a.m. Office focused positions work on-site due to the nature of the work and have limited remote days.
