We are seeking a highly commercial, dynamic, and strategic Marketing & Communications leader to step in as our Interim Head of Marketing & Communications for a 6-9 month maternity cover. Building on the work already underway, this is a rare opportunity to strengthen our commercial positioning, enhance the overall client experience, and elevate our Marketing & Communications efforts.
About the role
Are you a seasoned B2B marketing leader who thrives at the intersection of strategic vision and meticulous execution? Can you translate complex consultancy business models into revenue-driving campaigns while inspiring a lean, capable team?
Working closely with the Senior Management Team and reporting directly to the Managing director, you will take full ownership of our Marketing & Communications strategy for this 6-9 month period, ensuring every initiative is deeply aligned with our commercial goals and revenue generation. You will oversee and mentor an agile, in-house team of 2 FTE, providing high-level direction while remaining ready to roll up your sleeves and bring ideas to life when it matters most.
This is a multi-faceted role, requiring a combination of sharp strategic Marketing & Communications knowledge, skills and experience, strong stakeholder collaboration, and a keen appreciation of how to bring ideas to life in a fast-paced environment, across a small global organisation.

Location: Remote, +4,-4 GMT time
LoE: 2/3 days per week for 6 to 9 months (40-60% LoE)
Key Responsibilities
Commercial strategy and positioning: Analyse and elevate our product offerings, market placement and commercial positioning. Translate complex business models into a highly targeted, revenue-focused marketing strategy.
Client experience and journey: Champion the customer experience, building on the work done to map out the client journey to ensure targeting is precise, highly relevant, and engaging for our specific client base.
Inbound marketing and discoverability: Guide the team to ensure our website and other digital assets drive inbound business. Implement robust SEO and discoverability strategies so that our business is easily found by prospective clients.
Thought leadership and brand momentum: Lead exceptional thought-leadership initiatives. Orchestrate and support multi-channel B2B strategic campaigns across the organisation - specifically from the Consulting, Bid and HR teams. Manage our brand reputation through high-quality strategic campaigns.
Business development alignment: Act as a core advocate for strategic marketing input in business development actively collaborating with the Managing director and Senior management team to complete the Marketing plans for 2026 / 2027.
Team leadership and execution: Guide, brief and mentor our internal Marketing & Communications team who will report to you directly, though you will not be directly responsible for the day-to-day tactical execution. Lead the weekly Marketing & Communications meetings, one-to-ones, and participate in the Senior management team weekly meetings and strategy sessions. Blend high-level strategic orchestration with hands-on execution such as new and existing strategic campaigns, driving brand momentum to ensure ideas are brought to life in a fast-paced global environment.
Requirements
Marketing & Communications leadership: At least 8 years of proven B2B marketing experience with 5 or more years in leadership or fractional CMO roles. Proven experience scaling high-performing teams in a multi-cultural, international environment.
Commercial strategy and positioning: Experience translating complex business models into strategy.
Industry knowledge: Understanding of the climate finance and sustainable development landscape, challenges and opportunities.
Cross-channel success: A track record of successfully leading, developing and overseeing complex cross-channel strategies in a multi-national context. Experience briefing and managing creative professionals and agencies.
Hands-on capability: Extensive hands-on skills in Product marketing, Growth marketing, Brand positioning, Messaging, SEO & Lead generation.
Exceptional communication: Excellent writing, literacy, and creative storytelling skills. You must be a confident communicator, presenter and collaborator, capable of producing and editing high-level thought-leadership
Data-driven: Strong project management skills, paired with rigorous KPI setting, data reporting to measure commercial RoI.
Fluent English is essential. Fluency and experience working in one or more additional languages, including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or Arabic, would be an advange.

The gross annual salary for this full-time role ranges from £60,000 to £85,000, and will be prorated monthly based on your agreed working days. Your final offer will be determined by your relevant experience, competencies, and internal equity, ensuring coherence within our grading structure. While we account for market conditions when benchmarking our roles, your final placement will be managed firmly within this established grade range.

Our work has enabled us to collaborate with local governments around the world, where we’ve supported NDC alignment and implementation, policy development, capacity building, and other national to subnational priorities. Through this work, we’ve supported several government entities including: Ministry of Environment Armenia, Ministry of Finance Serbia, Ministry of Local Government Bangladesh, Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Finance (SHCP) Mexico, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) Mexico, Ministry of Agriculture Croatia.
To support our country-driven, locally-led approach, we design and deliver bespoke training and capacity-building courses worldwide, for public and private sector institutions, with an aim to further global skills and understanding of international finance mechanisms and how to access them – specifically the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
