Fractional CFO, Fundraising and Strategic Finance

Help Shape the Financial Future of an Emerging Construction Technology Venture

What if your next CFO opportunity was not about stepping into an established finance department, but about helping build the financial foundation of a company from the ground up?

We are supporting an early stage construction technology venture developing a digital platform designed to transform how modular homes are designed, configured, and brought into production. The platform is being developed to give users an intuitive way to customize modular homes and submit their configurations for factory production.

As the venture enters an important development and fundraising phase, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Fractional CFO who can take ownership of the financial strategy, lead fundraising efforts, and help establish the financial foundation for future growth.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a conventional finance role. You will work directly with the founder, shape the fundraising strategy, develop investor relationships, build the financial story, and play a meaningful role in the company's development.

The Opportunity

The immediate priority is to develop and execute the company's fundraising strategy and help secure its initial financing. You will be responsible for identifying and approaching suitable investors, building an investor pipeline, supporting investor conversations, and helping move the company through due diligence and financing negotiations.

You will also develop the financial infrastructure needed to support the fundraising process, including:

• Financial models and projections
• Cash flow forecasts
• Valuation scenarios
• Fundraising strategy and capital requirements
• Use of funds plans
• Investor materials and financial presentations
• Cap table and equity structure considerations
• Financing scenarios and strategic financial planning

You will work closely with the founder and have significant autonomy in determining the most effective approach to fundraising.

Why This Role Is Different

This is an early stage builder role, not a traditional corporate CFO position. The ideal candidate understands that at this stage, the most valuable contribution is not managing a large finance department. It is knowing how to raise capital, build investor relationships, structure financing strategies, and help an emerging company become investment ready. The compensation structure reflects the entrepreneurial nature of the opportunity.

Compensation and Equity

The role is structured around performance, ownership, and long term participation.

• Commission based compensation tied to successful fundraising and the value created
• Equity participation in the company at its current stage
• Opportunity to become the company's CFO during its development and growth phase
• Following a successful financing round, the opportunity to transition into a paid CFO position, with compensation agreed upon in advance based on the company's stage and scope of responsibilities

This structure is particularly suited to a finance leader who is comfortable taking an entrepreneurial approach and wants the opportunity to participate directly in the upside they help create.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and Investor Relations

• Develop and execute the company's fundraising strategy
• Identify, research, qualify, and approach prospective investors
• Leverage existing investor networks and develop new investor relationships
• Build and manage an organized investor pipeline
• Coordinate investor outreach and meetings
• Support due diligence processes
• Assist with financing negotiations and investment terms
• Develop strategies for angel investors, venture capital firms, strategic investors, family offices, and other relevant capital sources

Financial Strategy

• Build financial models and forward looking projections
• Develop cash flow forecasts and capital requirements
• Create valuation scenarios and financing models
• Develop use of funds strategies
• Support cap table and equity structure planning
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the founder and leadership team
• Establish the financial framework required for the company's next stage of development

Strategic Leadership

• Act as a trusted financial advisor to the founder
• Help evaluate strategic financing and growth opportunities
• Translate the company's vision and business model into a compelling financial and investment narrative
• Take ownership of the fundraising process from strategy through closing
• Help establish the financial foundation of the company as it moves toward commercialization and scale

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a fundraiser first and traditional CFO second.

The strongest candidate will have demonstrated experience helping early stage companies secure capital and will bring an existing understanding of how investors think, what makes an opportunity investable, and how to move an investor relationship toward a successful financing.

Ideal qualifications include

• Proven experience with early stage fundraising
• Demonstrated success raising capital from angel investors, venture capital firms, strategic investors, family offices, or other private capital sources
• A strong investor network and the ability to independently source and develop investor relationships
• Strong understanding of startup financing, valuation, equity structures, SAFE agreements, dilution, cap tables, and investment terms
• Strong financial modelling skills, including projections, valuation scenarios, cash flow forecasting, and use of funds planning
• Excellent investor communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building skills
• Experience in senior finance, investment, venture capital, investment banking, fundraising, or strategic finance
• Experience with startups, technology, construction, real estate, manufacturing, or related industries is an advantage
• Comfortable operating in a fast moving environment with limited resources
• Entrepreneurial, commercially minded, and highly self directed
• Comfortable working directly with a founder and taking ownership of critical initiatives
• Knowledge of Canadian corporate finance, accounting, taxation, and regulatory requirements is an asset
• CPA, CFA, MBA, or another relevant designation is an asset, but not required
• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline is also an asset.
