Position Summary:

The Frac Equipment Operator II is responsible for operating and maintaining fracturing equipment used in oil and gas well services. This position requires advanced knowledge of frac equipment operations, safety protocols, and procedures to ensure efficient and safe execution of jobs. The operator will work closely with other team members to achieve operational goals, including setup, execution, and breakdown of fracturing equipment.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Operates fracturing equipment, including pumps, blenders, and data acquisition systems, following job specifications and operational guidelines.
  • Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all frac equipment, conducting pre- and post-job equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Assists in the rig-up and rig-down of frac equipment on location, including hoses, iron, and other equipment.
  • Monitors and controls pressure and rate during the frac job to meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical issues with equipment, performing minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborates with other crew members and supervisors to execute jobs according to plans, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Keeps accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance, and repair logs.
  • Follows all company and regulatory safety policies, reporting hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Trains and mentors Frac Equipment Operator I personnel on job tasks and safety procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with the field supervisor, engineers, and customer representatives regarding job progress, issues, and any adjustments required.
  • Assists with the transport of equipment to and from job sites as needed.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in mechanical or hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating frac equipment in oilfield services.
  • Strong understanding of frac operations, including hydraulic fracturing procedures, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance on frac equipment.
  • Valid CDL with endorsements (strongly preferred).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.

Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
