missions :

FP&A Manager, Innovation & Development (I&D/R&D)

and Purpose:

The FP&A Manager, I&D is responsible for the daily functioning and direction of the I&D finance department for Ceva Biotherapeutic Campus in Philadelphia, PA and Discovery teams in Libourne, France; additionally, functioning as the US accounting support person for the I&D department, and I&D activities relating to R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Project Management . The FP&A Manager, I&D will ensure financial models align with Ceva financial policies. This position has primary responsibility for I&D accounting and finance operations, liaising with Global I&D Controller (located in Libourne, France), and related internal control procedures. The FP&A Manager, I&D is also responsible for the R&D program business modeling, analysis and strategic support.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:


Acc
ounting for Assigned Populations

·Adhere to Month End Controller Checklist including preparing, booking, reconciling entries for specific balance sheet account (e.g., Accrued / Prepaid R&D, accrued expenses for recurring charges, Accounts Payable Prepayments accounts) for all relevant US legal entities

·Prepare journal entries – review Coupa for new purchase orders requiring straight line amortization. Book straight line accrued R&D entries in JDE. Reclass invoices pertaining to PO’s being straight lined from PL to Accrued R&D. Reconcile Accounts Payment Prepayments account for any PO’s with cash advance payments.

·Calculate – cost allocation by % capacity to spread utility bills across GMSQ QA, SSIU, Regulatory, & GID Bio

·Capital assets – oversee the accounting for capital projects and fixed assets, including depreciation, acquisition, disposition and gain or loss for ongoing building renovation. Perform payback calculation for investments above certain thresholds.

·Spending – review departmental spending and monitor coding and expense levels for relevant departments including R&D, Regulatory, Quality, PMO

·Track financial activity needed for month end including VAT refunds, PIF credits, and various KPI’s (e.g., consumable spend categories, etc.)

·Refresh Month End Financial Reporting Package (e.g., a cluster of excel reports for each legal entity)

·Analyze variances between Budget and Actual, year-over-year, and provide commentary where applicable

·Maintain month end report distributions which adhering to strict timelines

·Gain proficiency with JDE and Coupa reporting templates to generate canned and custom reports for various one-off and recurring reporting requests

·Meet with process owners to provide feedback on month end results

·Ensure SSIU analysis are rebilled to the prescribing areas

Financial Reporting and Analysis

·Monthly close – report the results of I&D operations to local and corporate management per specific timeline.

·Reporting processes – prepare all necessary reports and written analyses for Ceva Biotherapeutics Campus results, I&D, and Discovery Libourne departments. Proactively enhance the reporting processes and tools to support management decisions.

·Ceva reporting – prepare all required reports for Ceva central accounting and all monthly schedules as required.

·Track actual spend against budget for each project code on a monthly basis

·Support theI&D businesses as needed with relevant financial analyses

Business modeling, forecasting and strategic planning

·Business modeling – conduct what-if studies to support decision making.

·Continuous improvement – drive continuous improvement throughout areas of responsibility.

·Investment analysis – recommend capital spending projects using net present value or other applicable analyses.

·Evaluate – assist with preparing business plan analysis for all early stage indications using preliminary data gathered from franchise, GID, clinical, PMO contributors to calculate program NPV

·Drive & coordinate the estimate & budget processes for I&D operating areas. Provide accurate and timely completion of these process. Justify differences between budget, forecast and actual data.

·Create annual budget, June and September Estimate for non-Fees (operating expenses), consolidate with Fee’s budget and review consolidated budget with business partners, and upload into Tidemark and JDE

Internal Control and Procedures

·Standard operating procedures – develop SOPs as required and ensure adherence to established policies.

·GAAP – ensure that Bio Campus and I&D operations meet all requirements of US GAAP and IAS when appropriate.

·Ceva policies – ensure that Bio Campus and I&D operations are compliant to all applicable Ceva accounting and control policies.

·Audit – assist corporate and local finance teams in providing all necessary information as requested by internal and external auditors.

Technical / Functional Competencies:

·Strong understanding of budgeting, planning and analysis

·Affinity for data reporting

·Ability and willingness to understand R&D and regulatory related processes

·Strong computer skills (MS Office) as well as background in major ERP systems (JDE, SAP etc.)

Qualifications:

Education – Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or CMA desirable

Work Experience – 5 to 8 years progressive accounting experience with knowledge of JDE; some operations background is a plus, reporting experience in Coupa is a plus

Travel Required:

Occasional international travel, 5% of time. Domestic travel 10% - 20% of time based upon work requirement.
