About Samsung Austin Semiconductor
Samsung is a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, founded on the belief that the pursuit of excellence creates a better world. At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, we are Innovating Today to Power the Devices of Tomorrow.
Come innovate with us!
Samsung Foundry Product Engineering team serves as the analytical hub that connects the fab process with our end customer product applications.
The team drives new product introductions by checking margin of customer sample and corner lots, verifying new IP, and ensuring successful / on time product qualification. They
lead wafer sort evaluation for Samsung’s advanced technology test vehicles to help secure future design wins, establish Failure Analysis workflow, pareto top detractors and work with customer to confirm SCAN and SRAM diagnostic capability with physical failure confirmation. Additionally they
Build yield learning models based on wafer sort or final test data to define root cause and institute countermeasures.
Through these activities, Samsung Foundry Product Engineering aims to ensure robust yield, high quality and efficient testing operations for Samsung’s advanced process technologies and its customers.
Role and Responsibilities
Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Closely collaborate with teams: Process, DFM, Test, and Customer to ensure manufacturability of Samsung’s products and rigorously analyze EDS/ET and process‑parameter data to translate wafer‑sort test results into actions to segregate EDS‑related anomalies from process related yield degradations.
Provide comprehensive silicon analysis across the Process, Voltage, Temperature, encompassing device characterization, yield modeling, and problem‑solving while supporting failure‑analysis efforts (eFA/pFA).
Identify trends, devise innovative mitigation strategies, and resolve complex yield and test challenges by Leveraging high‑volume production data.
Monitor mass‑production performance, collaborate with fab engineering to root‑cause systematic issues, and drive yield to entitlement targets. Review test programs to grasp flow and identify critical change points.
Skills and Qualifications
Here's what you'll need:
Core Technical & Data Analysis Skills to build Yield Learning Models
STDF Data Mining: Extensive experience in data mining and statistical analysis using Standard Test Data Format (STDF) to identify yield detractors and parametric trends.
Data Correlation & Yield Analysis: Proficient in mapping wafer sort bin and parametric data back to fab electrical test (E-test/WAT) results to build yield learning model and drive root cause identification
Advanced Diagnostics to drive PFA: Skilled in utilizing scan diagnostics and SRAM bitmap analysis to isolate defects and effectively drive Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) to confirm failure modes
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Technology Qualification
NPI & Technology Bring-Up: Proven track record of participating in new product introduction (NPI) and advanced semiconductor technology node bring-up and qualification phases.
Test Flow Management: In-depth understanding and hands-on experience evaluating the wafer sort test up to product launch.
Customer Engagement: Work with customers at kick off, validate CS lots, evaluate margin of Corner wafers, and support successful qualification
Test Understanding & Hardware Platform Expertise
Test Methodology & Debug: Deep understanding of semiconductor test methodologies with a strong ability to deconvolute Design / Fab / Test failures.
ATE Platform Experience: Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with major Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms, specifically Advantest V93K and/or Teradyne UltraFLEX (highly advantageous).
Semiconductor Manufacturing
Fab Process & E-Test Knowledge: Solid foundational understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes and their direct impact on electrical performance and device characteristics.
Professional & Soft Skills
Cross-Functional Collaboration: A proactive team member who collaborates seamlessly across cross-functional engineering teams (Design, Foundry, Test, Customer, and Quality) to achieve yield target and qualification milestones.
Scripting & Automation: Ability to develop, modify, or maintain automation scripts and data analysis tools using Python, C, or Java (highly advantageous).
