Tech at Allia

At Allia, we are building an intelligent platform designed to be the indispensable copilot for accounting professionals. Our core product will leverage AI to automate complex processes, provide instant insights, and offer intelligent support.

Our tech stack and focus areas include:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs): Utilizing and fine-tuning state-of-the-art LLMs to understand and process accounting-specific language and queries.

  • Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG): Building robust RAG systems to connect our AI models with vast and diverse sources of accounting knowledge, regulations, and client data.

  • AI copilot & agents: Developing an intuitive AI copilot to assist accountants in their daily tasks and intelligent agents capable of proactively answering questions and automating workflows.

  • Scalable model and platform infrastructure: Designing and implementing the infrastructure required to collect data, train, deploy, and manage our AI models efficiently and reliably, based on various data sources, with a strong focus on model reliability and security.

Our vision is to use a cutting-edge stack (TypeScript, Python) to make it future-proof and rely on managed services (AWS, Vercel, Supabase, OpenAI, …) to focus on our core product.

Your Mission

You are an AI Engineer / Software Engineer / ML Engineer / Data Scientist with solid software engineering skills and real experience shipping AI-powered features.

Your mission at Allia: transform the complex accounting reality (emails, documents, client history, processes) into robust AI features that accountants can trust and rely on every day

We are not looking for someone who only builds PoCs. We’re looking for someone who can:

  • understand a business problem,

  • design a pragmatic AI solution,

  • implement it with clean production code,

  • measure it, improve it, and ship it.

You will work closely with our co-founders and a team of full-stack and AI engineers, as well as design partners, to build the initial versions of our product and rapidly iterate based on real user feedback.

What We Need From You

We are open to different levels of seniority, as long as you are not completely junior and can own meaningful features. You likely have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in engineering, data science, or machine learning.

This role is for you if:

  • Solid software engineering skills

    • Strong experience in Python, with a strong emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code. You prioritize testing, reliability, and performance, and are comfortable working with production backends and APIs.

    • Familiar with backend frameworks (e.g. FastAPI or similar), testing and tooling ( pytest, linters, type checkers, CI/CD), cloud platforms ( AWS) and containerization ( Docker).

  • Applied AI / ML experience

    • Hands-on experience with LLMs and NLP (prompting, orchestration, evaluation). You understand the limitations of LLMs and how to mitigate them (grounding, constraints, evaluation).

    • You have already built and shipped AI-powered features or products to real users.

    • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LangFuse, or similar AI tooling. Experience with RAG systems and vector databases (e.g. pgvector, Qdrant, turbopuffer or similar).

  • Ability to ship

    • You can take a problem from idea to production autonomously: scope it, design it, implement it, and iterate.

    • You are pragmatic: you know when to hack a quick experiment and when to build something more robust.

  • Collaboration & mindset

    • You enjoy working closely with product and business stakeholders.

    • You are proactive, curious, and comfortable with ambiguity.

    • You like small teams, fast feedback loops, and high impact.

  • Nice-to-have. Exposure to accounting, finance, or legal data or workflows. (Great if you have it, absolutely not a blocker if you don’t.)

Language:

Fluency in English is required.

Interview Process

Our interview process is designed to be thorough, transparent, and respectful of your time. It typically includes the following stages:

  1. Initial screening call (30 minutes): A brief conversation with our Talent Acquisition Manager to discuss your background, motivation, and learn more about Allia.

  2. Technical deep dive (60-90 minutes): A discussion with our CTO focusing on your AI/ML and engineering experience, problem-solving skills, and technical depth in relevant areas.

  3. Take-home assignment: A practical exercise designed to assess your ability to tackle real-world challenges relevant to the role, followed by a debrief call on the project.

  4. Meeting with the Founding team (1 hour): An opportunity to meet the entire founding team, discuss the company vision, your potential role in more detail, and ensure a mutual fit in terms of culture and ambition.
