Job Title: Founding AI Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site, 5 days/week)
Compensation: $120,000 $180,000 base salary + 0.4% 1.4% equity

About the Role
We are looking for a Founding AI Engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges. In this role, you will take ownership of developing and optimizing AI agents designed to test and monitor conversational systems. You will work closely with founders and customers to shape both the product roadmap and the underlying technology, driving innovation in a fast-moving startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and refine AI-driven tools for testing, benchmarking, and monitoring conversational agents.
Develop scalable pipelines and evaluation methods for LLMs and conversational AI.
Conduct research and experimentation to continuously improve AI accuracy and reliability.
Implement real-time monitoring, feedback loops, and model optimization systems.
Ensure high-performance AI deployments in production environments.
Partner directly with customers to understand challenges and integrate feedback into product improvements.
Qualifications
1+ years of experience as an AI Engineer (internship or professional), with proven spikes of excellence.
Hands-on experience building and deploying AI applications in production.
Strong programming skills in Python
Background in AI evaluation methods, benchmarking frameworks, or observability tools
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field from a top-tier university (or equivalent academic excellence).
Experience at companies with a high engineering bar or from a prestigious academic background.
Preferred Attributes
Strong GPA or evidence of academic excellence.
Comfort operating in a small, early-stage startup environment.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
