Job Description

About the Role

At Goldman Sachs, our Engineers don't just make things – we make things possible. Change the world by connecting people and capital with ideas. Solve the most challenging and pressing engineering problems for our clients. Join our engineering teams that build massively scalable software and systems, architect low latency infrastructure solutions, proactively guard against cyber threats, and leverage machine learning, generative AI, and agentic systems alongside financial engineering to continuously turn data into action. Create new businesses, transform finance, and explore a world of opportunity at the speed of markets.

The Entitlements Platform team is responsible for protecting the firm against the risks associated with both over-privilege and under-privilege and builds the required logical security controls which facilitate the firm's mandatory adherence to regulatory and compliance policies.

We help the firm manage the security risks associated with identity and privilege by providing products that can easily be integrated by the firm's other software engineers; as well as offering management tools to approve, recertify and report on staff privileges.

As a Vice President on the team, you will lead the design and delivery of robust, enterprise-wide control solutions and provide technical leadership for platforms that achieve leverage across the enterprise. You will architect and build applications, libraries and services to manage the lifecycle of application privileges; provide externalized authorization capabilities; allow secure, auditable access to the firm's technology production environment; and drive the adoption of AI-enabled capabilities across the platform. You will also mentor engineers, shape technical strategy, and partner with senior stakeholders across the firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and ownership for the design, development and testing of cross-platform, enterprise-wide software solutions
  • Architect large-scale, highly scalable, resilient distributed systems and set engineering best practices across the team
  • Lead the design of cloud-native and containerized solutions using AWS or other cloud platforms, driving cloud adoption and migration strategy
  • Define and champion robust practices for version control, continuous integration, deployment and configuration management
  • Drive the design and implementation of REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and GraphQL, and microservice architecture at scale
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies — including AI agents, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and associated tooling — to build AI-enabled solutions
  • Mentor and guide engineers, conduct design and code reviews, and raise the technical bar across the team
  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business and regulatory needs into technical roadmaps
  • Communicate effectively on complex technical concepts, both in writing and orally, to audiences at all levels of seniority
  • Operate with autonomy in a high-paced environment with tight deadlines, balancing delivery with long-term platform health

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering or a related role
  • Demonstrated experience building enterprise-wide, scalable software solutions
  • Proven experience designing and architecting solutions using AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with AI agents, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and tooling to build AI-enabled solutions
  • Strong core and server-side Java software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or cloud-native databases such as Amazon Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner)
  • Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and delivering complex projects end to end

Preferred Qualifications

  • A grounding in identity and privilege management concepts, including relationships between employee and privilege lifecycle, authorization vs. authentication, and segregation of duties
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Golang, Python or C#
  • Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, database design principles, ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA) and modern data access patterns
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Proficiency in modern front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Experience working with design systems and translating UX/UI designs into reusable component libraries
  • Deep expertise across one or more major cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including cloud-native and containerized architectures (Kubernetes, serverless)
  • Experience designing and deploying AI/ML or LLM-based solutions in production environments

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder management, and ability to influence across organizational boundaries
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensuring system resiliency, data integrity, and stakeholder management
