Reports to: Fort Lupton High School Principal and District Athletic Director
Salary: Based on the 2026�27 Extra Duty Schedule (Tier 4 @ up to 4%, based on experience)
Summary:
Fort Lupton High School is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered staff member to serve as the Japanese Anime Culture Club (JACC) Sponsor. The purpose of JACC is to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where students can come together to explore and share an interest in Japanese culture, anime, food, art, and popular culture. The sponsor will guide students in creating a positive club community while coordinating a variety of educational, creative, and social activities. Club programming may include anime viewing, anime-inspired art, Japanese food experiences,cultural learning activities, and other opportunities that allow students to engage with Japanese popular and traditional culture in an appropriate school setting.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, advise, and supervise student members while maintaining an active and welcoming Japanese Anime Culture Club.
- Facilitate regular club meetings and support students in planning activities that reflect the interests and purpose of the club.
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participating students.
- Provide opportunities for students to explore Japanese culture and popular culture beyond simply watching anime.
- Coordinate age- and school-appropriate anime viewing activities in accordance with district expectations and applicable media guidelines.
- Plan creative activities such as anime and manga-inspired art, drawing, crafts, and other student-led projects.
- Coordinate opportunities to explore Japanese food and cuisine while following school, district, food-safety, and student allergy requirements.
- Support appropriate cosplay activities, themed events, and cultural celebrations that comply with school dress, safety, and conduct expectations.
- Encourage student leadership by involving members in meeting agendas, activity planning, event organization, and club decision-making.
- Help students learn about Japanese customs, traditions, arts, language, history, and contemporary popular culture in a respectful and educational manner.
- Promote positive school culture, student belonging, creativity, friendship, and responsible participation.
- Maintain communication with students, families, school administration, and the Activities Department as needed.
- Supervise students during meetings, special events, activities, and any approved off-campus opportunities.
- Ensure all club activities, media, food, costumes, artwork, and events are appropriate for a high school setting and comply with district policies and school expectations.
- Maintain club records, calendars, participation information, budgets, purchases, fundraising documentation, and other required reports.
- Follow district procedures for purchasing, fundraising, facility use, transportation, and approval of special events or activities.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain professional and timely communication with students, parents, staff, and school administration about events and meetings.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Principal and District Athletic Director.
- Promote school pride by highlighting student achievements, academics, athletics, fine arts, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
Safety & Supervision
- Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and academically supportive environment for all participants.
- Follow all Weld Re-8 School District policies regarding student supervision, transportation, communication, and student welfare.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with student participants.
Qualifications:
- Certified/Licensed Teacher or Weld Re-8 staff member preferred.
- Interest in Japanese culture, anime, art, food, or related areas preferred.
- Experience advising student clubs, activities, or youth programs preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, supervision, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive environment that supports students with a wide range of interests and backgrounds.
- Ability to appropriately review and supervise media, activities, food experiences, cosplay, and other club programming.
- Commitment to student safety, belonging, creativity, school pride, and positive student engagement.
- Ability to supervise students during meetings and activities that may occur outside the regular school day..
