Job Description

Atlas Manufacturing - is seeking a motivated individual to work as a Forklift Operator for our Hazelton, PA facility. Great opportunity for a team-oriented, self-starting, ambitious individual - Atlas promotes from within!

SUMMARY:

Transports materials, to include in-process and finished goods. Moves product from the production line to the warehouse. Loads and unloads trucks. Receives incoming materials. Maintains warehouse organization. Completes shipping documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

STOCKER

  • Transports product from the production line to the designated warehouse area.
  • Reorganizes the warehouse stock as necessary.
  • Completes stock movement paperwork.
  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
  • Regular, consistent physical attendance.

LOADER

  • Procures material from the warehouse and loads onto trucks. Insures correct product loaded.
  • Properly labels product and insures proper packaging.
  • Assembles packages to proper piece count.
  • Completes shipping documents.
  • Assists other personnel in manually loading any material that requires efforts other than those that can be achieved with a forklift.
  • Instructs truck drivers in correct load protection, such as tarps, dunnage, straps, edge protectors, etc.
  • Hoists dunnage and tarps onto trucks as needed.
  • Cleans the tarping / outside finishing areas.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Inspects lift truck each day for needed maintenance.
  • Fills and changes gas bottles.
  • Keeps track of warehouse inventory via the warehouse organizational board.
  • Assists other personnel by moving materials with a forklift.
  • Reworks damaged product or piece rework bundles.
  • Assists dry end personnel when needed or when forklift duties are complete.
  • Assembles/manufactures dunnage, edge protectors and other packaging materials.
  • Insures that product is stored, handled, and moved damage free.
  • Notifies supervisor of any product/quality problems seen when handling product.
  • Participates in plant programs, such as safety, training, housekeeping, recycling, etc.
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience..

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to forecasting and other practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to learn to operate forklift and pass licensing examination.
