Job Description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and organization of materials within the warehouse. This role ensures inventory accuracy, material traceability, and timely handling of incoming and outgoing materials while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, transport, and store materials within the warehouse.
  • Receive, organize, and properly store raw materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Stage materials for import and outbound shipments.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing materials for accuracy and proper identification.
  • Utilize the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory system by ensuring materials are labeled with the appropriate month and year.
  • Ensure all materials are identified with the required control numbers to maintain inventory traceability.
  • Trap and secure materials as required.
  • Inspect pallets and replace broken, damaged, or unstamped pallets to ensure safe material handling.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse at all times.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the forklift and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Follow all company safety policies, warehouse procedures, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative by assisting coworkers and supporting overall warehouse operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous forklift operating experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and FIFO inventory practices.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and transport materials in accordance with company safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and safely maneuver materials within a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb as needed to perform job duties.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely handle and move pallets, containers, and warehouse materials.
  • Ability to use hands and arms for operating equipment, handling materials, and performing routine warehouse tasks.
  • Ability to visually inspect materials, labels, control numbers, and inventory identification markings.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to moving equipment.
  • Ability to maintain alertness and awareness of surroundings while operating a forklift and working around other equipment and personnel.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety standards.

Work Environment

  • Climate-controlled medical device manufacturing environment.
  • May require the use of safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other PPE as applicable.
  • Regular attendance and schedule flexibility, including overtime, may be required to meet production demands.
