Job Description

Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are looking for a Forklift Operator to join our production team at our Carlisle Coatings and Waterproofing plant in Terrell, TX.

Forklift Operators may support all departments with the movement of materials and products, including taking part in warehouse organizing and finished goods inspection, taking product off the production line and putting it away in designated locations in the warehouse, loading and unloading customer trucks.

Forklift Operators may also fill in for other jobs in the plant as business needs dictate. Standard work week 40 hours a week with overtime as needed to support operational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections on forklift
  • Safely operate forklift to load finished product onto flatbed and dry van trailers.
  • Maintain maximum warehouse utilization by organizing finished goods and WIP material on a daily basis.
  • Record preventative maintenance activities, quality inspection data, equipment downtime, production output and other key metrics, performing mathematical calculations as needed.
  • Work as a team with other forklift operators to ensure the Shipping schedule is completed daily.
  • Perform general plant clean-up and additional tasks defined by management.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Display a professional attitude with customers, drivers and co-workers
  • Able to perform basic math calculations
  • Competent reading and writing skills
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills
  • Able to complete assigned tasks in somewhat stressful situations
  • Able to work as a member of a team or independently, as the job requires
  • Prior experience with equipment operation
  • Able to pull orders accurately
  • Ability to keep various pieces of information organized to ensure accurate loading and unloading of materials

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years’ experience operating a forklift in Logistics or warehouse environment
  • Experience in loading materials in/on trailers is preferred but not required
  • Experience pulling orders and packaging for shipment
  • Experience using scanners and tablets for order pulling, loading, and inventory is preferred by not required.

Working Conditions:

  • This position spends the majority of time working inside the warehouse loading/unloading material (80%) and the remainder of the time working outside the warehouse (20%). Operators may be exposed to fumes, odors, dust and gas. Business is cyclical and will require flexibility in shift hours and days of the week worked. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, but Saturdays may be required during high sales volumes.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift up to 50 pounds. There is repetitive use of hands required, with simple grasping and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. This position also requires sitting, standing, driving, bending, walking, lifting and reaching above one’s shoulders.

PPE Requirement

Required Personal Protective Equipment includes: safety shoes (composite or steel toe), head protection, hearing protection, eye protection, and safety vest.
