Job Description

We are currently hiring a Forklift Operator for the 2nd Shift. The wage is based on experience and starts at $18.00/HR. The hours are 5:00 pm—3:30 am Monday through Thursday,with opportunities for overtime pay.

The Forklift Operator ensures the proper movement and storage of products and materials during day-to-day production in accordance with operations strategies and goals that maximize the company's profits by improving efficiencies and cutting costs. It actively seeks opportunities for improvement to ensure maximum company performance. It works with other team members to create and maintain a safe, organized working environment/culture that meets/exceeds MAT HD—Rome facility standards and customer expectations.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Performs daily safety inspection of forklift before operating to ensure safety.
  • Takes proper safety and precautionary measures when operating machinery.
  • Supports essential logistic operations through storage and transportation.
  • Notifies technicians in advance when forklifts are in need of service.
  • Performs work under direct supervision with a basic understanding of equipment.
  • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Operate hand-held scanner and stretch-wrap machine.
  • Comply with all company safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Other duties assigned by manager/supervisor

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills (listening, verbal, and written).
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic mathematical concepts.
  • Must have or be able to receive a license to operate a forklift. Two years of forklift experience is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check, employment verification, and drug screen.
