Job Location: Independent Can Co Belcamp - Belcamp, MD 21017
Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Job Shift: 1stSUMMARY: The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift truck to load and unload trucks. Must be the site leader in living and driving the Company Core Values and High-Performance Work Culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate forklift to move finished units from manufacturing area to warehouse to load trucks as required
- Operate forklift to empty scrap and trash hoppers
- Operate forklift to load and unload trucks as required
- Perform daily maintenance and Safety Assessment of assigned forklifts
- Use defined system and process to pick & stage customer loads and warehouse transfers, achieving accurate reporting of items and quantities picked.  Ensure paperwork is accurate, complete, and is turned in for processing.
- Load orders as required. Avoiding damage in loading, shipping, and unloading at the final destination.
- Sweep, clean, pick-up trash, and general house cleaning
- Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws
- Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. - Must be able to safely and efficiently operate the lift at its maximum lift height (approximately 180”)
- Availability for occasional overtime is a condition of employment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent (GED); and pass the Fork Truck Training certification course. Achievement of high school level math.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and speak English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Valid fork truck certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, to handle and/or feel, and talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is sometimes required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and smell. The employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to operate the fork truck in a safe and expeditious manner so that there are no delays in the manufacturing or in the shipping operations.  Employee must be able to safely and efficiently operate the lift at its maximum lift height (approximately 180”).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
