Job Description

Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor, the Forklift Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting on various models of Hyster, Nissan, Toyota, Crown, and related material handling equipment. The ideal Candidate will be proficient in all types of Powered industrial trucks (PITs) to include Liquid Propane (LP) and electric sit-down units, and electrical stand-up units. Candidate must also be able complete all required paperwork needed in either written or electronic format.

Here's what you'll do:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
  • Able to repair, or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering and transmissions, engines with limited supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose most truck components.
  • Perform engine tune-ups on most makes of equipment without supervision Perform proper PM’s in a timely manner.
  • Be able to troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucks.
  • Be able to use all special tools properly.
  • Maintain and properly use the normal tools of the trade.
  • Operate service vehicle in a clean, safe and secure manner following all required safety rules for the job Assist with training/mentoring apprentice mechanics through on-the-job training.
  • Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills.
  • Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts.
  • Perform other duties as required per management.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • A minimum of two years of proven experience in repair and maintenance on powered industrial trucks will be required.
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate preferred.
  • Basic Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is highly desired but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Will regularly stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly will lift up to 10 pounds; Frequently will lift 11 to 50 pounds.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Local travel will be required approximately 30% of the time.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position and a valid current driver’s license must be maintained at all times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly will work near moving mechanical parts; Frequently will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions; Occasionally will work in wet or humid conditions (cold room environment).

Pay Range: $33.06 - $37.49 per hour. Final Compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
