Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electric, propane, and diesel-powered forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to support continuous plant operations and minimize unplanned downtime
  • Conduct equipment inspections to ensure compliance with Cargill safety policies, OSHA requirements, and food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP as applicable)
  • Respond to urgent equipment breakdowns with a strong sense of urgency to support production needs
  • Maintain batteries, fuel systems, brakes, steering, tires, and control systems
  • Accurately document maintenance work, parts usage, and equipment history in CMMS systems
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams to prioritize work and improve equipment performance
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (CI), 5S, and reliability efforts
  • Follow all Cargill Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Food Safety policies at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of industrial forklift repair experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, working in varying temperatures)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Technology, or related field
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement (CI), and reliability-centered maintenance
  • Experience with multiple forklift brands (Toyota, Crown, Hyster, Yale)
