Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented and tech savvy field technician to assist with entry-level Forestry work on state lands in northwest Vermont. Employment runs approximately from May through November, but exact dates may be flexible depending on candidate. Project duties may include forest inventory, timber sale marking, boundary line marking, road and trail maintenance, kiosk and gate installation and maintenance, introduced plant management, hazard tree removal, trailhead maintenance, trail project oversight, road and trail assessments, general road maintenance, wildlife habitat improvement, and data management. The selected candidate will work with the State Land staff to create a work plan and execute identified projects. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a licensed forester or forest recreation specialist.

This position, Forestry Specialist I - Temporary(Job Requisition #55064), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
