Cold Mix Plant Supervisor (National Role)

Location: Penrith
Hours: 40 per week
Salary: Competitive

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an experienced and motivated Cold Mix Plant Supervisor to lead the efficient, safe, and high‑quality operation of our Cold Mix Plant. This national role requires a proactive leader with strong organisational skills, a commitment to Health & Safety, and the ability to deliver consistent, high‑standard production performance.

About the Role

You will play a central role in managing day‑to‑day plant operations, overseeing production activities, and ensuring that all output meets our rigorous quality standards. This includes operating, inspecting, and maintaining the Cold Mix Plant, while leading a skilled team and ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.

Your responsibilities will span site establishment, material ordering, stock control, daily planning of production activity, equipment start‑up and shut‑down procedures, and the ongoing optimisation of plant throughput.

The role also includes routine maintenance, safe operation of mobile and static plant, and supporting nearby Heidelberg Materials sites when required. Travel allowances will be provided where journeys exceed standard expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with company Health & Safety policies, Local Managers Rules, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.

  • Liaise with colleagues, the HBM Manager, suppliers, and contractors to achieve smooth, efficient plant programming and production.

  • Supervise production activities to ensure effective use of labour, plant, and materials.

  • Maintain your professional development through CPD and training courses as required.

  • Safely and efficiently operate both static and mobile plant equipment.

  • Carry out refuelling, greasing, cleaning, and basic maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and Heidelberg Materials standards.

  • Complete daily inspection sheets for all plant equipment.

  • Report plant defects or issues promptly to the HBM Manager.

  • Submit near‑miss reports in accordance with procedures.

  • Operate plant and machinery in an energy‑efficient manner.

  • Demonstrate reliable timekeeping and a professional approach at all times.

Education and Qualifications

  • Good general level of education

  • NVQ Level 2

  • CSCS accreditation

Skills and Experience

  • Solid understanding of SHE, QA, product quality, and technical processes

  • Knowledge of site‑specific SHE rules and procedures

  • Basic mechanical experience with the ability to identify early signs of breakdown

  • Strong process control experience and technical awareness

  • Working knowledge of plant maintenance and repairs

  • Experience with cold mix production materials

  • Ability to operate Front-End Loaders (FEL) and other mobile plant as required
