
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in engineering technology or a closely related field, or completion of a formalized Electrical/Electronic training or apprenticeship program is required.A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in train control maintenance required. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of signaling principles and practices of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way (AREMA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Must also possess experience working in or knowledge of a labor union environment.Directly related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in-lieu of educational or formalized training.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas.These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments.
Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure that all ATC (Automatic Train Control) equipment is properly maintained in accordance with MARTA requirements. Gives input on the operating and capital budget program, budget forecasting and oversight, production planning and measurement, staffing, and material control. Plans and schedules support work involving other branches of Facilities and Maintenance of Way that interface with ATC. Serves as a representative for the General Foreman, Engineer or Manager as needed. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the administration and supervision of ATC maintenance activities, including coordinating and directing the maintenance work program and crews.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a Commercial Driver's License or minimally possess a CDL permit (successfully have passed the written portion of the CDL exam). Employees will be required to obtain their CDL license within 90 days following employment.
