Position Summary

The Foreman, Irrigation Installation is responsible for leading and managing irrigation installation projects for commercial properties. This role oversees field crews to ensure efficient, high-quality, and timely project completion while maintaining company safety standards and installation quality expectations.

The Foreman, Irrigation Installation is responsible for directing daily field activities, executing irrigation installation plans, troubleshooting installation challenges, and maintaining strong communication with branch leadership, team members, clients, and subcontractors. This team member reports directly to the Irrigation Manager of the local branch and/or region.

Key Responsibilities

As one of our Foremen, Irrigation Installation, you will have the following areas of responsibility:

Crew Leadership & Project Execution

  • Lead and supervise irrigation installation crews by providing clear direction and maintaining efficient workflow
  • Plan and organize daily tasks and project schedules for the installation team
  • Train and mentor irrigation technicians and laborers to support performance, development, and quality execution
  • Assist with site preparation and cleanup as needed

Irrigation Installation & Technical Execution

  • Interpret and implement irrigation design plans, blueprints, and specifications accurately
  • Oversee all aspects of irrigation system installation, including layout, trenching, pipe installation (PVC, HDPE, and related materials), valve assembly, wiring, and sprinkler head placement
  • Ensure proper installation techniques are followed and work aligns with industry best practices and local codes
  • Conduct pressure testing, system commissioning, and troubleshooting of installation issues
  • Support advanced controller programming and electrical wiring installation as needed

Project Quality, Materials & Documentation

  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure installations meet company standards and client expectations
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress
  • Manage project materials and equipment, ensuring proper use, maintenance, and readiness
  • Report project updates, progress, and any issues to the Irrigation Manager or Superintendent

Safety, Communication & Compliance

  • Enforce all company safety regulations and promote a safe working environment
  • Communicate effectively with the Irrigation Manager, team members, clients, and subcontractors
  • Maintain compliance with company standards, client specifications, and applicable codes

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Minimum of 6 years of proven irrigation experience
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage crews or multiple job sites
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial irrigation system components, including mainlines, laterals, valves, heads, drip systems, backflow preventers, and controllers
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, electrical wiring, and irrigation controller programming
  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, controller charts, and technical specifications
  • Experience with pressure testing, system commissioning, and troubleshooting complex irrigation installation issues
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and safety standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for prolonged periods throughout the day
  • Ability to use hand tools for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds multiple times per day in hot temperatures
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including heat, high humidity, and rain

Driver Qualifications

To qualify as a Driver, in addition to the above, you must:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license issued in the United States for a minimum of three years
  • Maintain a clean driving record for at least three years
  • Successfully pass a drug screening
