Job Description


The Electrical Foreman leads commercial electrical crews in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and NEC/local codes. This role is responsible for jobsite coordination, manpower planning, quality control, material management, safety compliance, and customer relations. The Foreman serves as the primary field contact with project management, general contractors, and subcontractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise Journeymen and Apprentices on commercial electrical projects
  • Plan daily work activities, manpower, and jobsite logistics
  • Coordinate schedules, field labor, inspections, and project activities with project management and general contractors
  • Read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, schematics, specifications, and electrical layouts
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems including conduit, feeders, panels, switchgear, lighting, transformers, and low-voltage controls
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose existing electrical systems, controls, equipment, and power distribution issues to identify faults and complete repairs efficiently while minimizing downtime
  • Perform testing and verification of electrical systems including voltage, continuity, resistance, and operational checks
  • Lay out and oversee conduit runs, underground rough-in, device locations, and equipment installation
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure all work meets NEC, local code, and project specifications
  • Order, organize, and track materials, tools, equipment, and jobsite inventory
  • Prepare material lists and coordinate deliveries to maintain project schedules
  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment throughout all phases of construction
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate Apprentices while promoting crew productivity and workmanship standards
  • Serve as the primary field contact for general contractors, inspectors, vendors, and customers
  • Assist with estimating, job planning, scheduling, and labor forecasting as needed
  • Inspect completed work, complete punch lists, and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Approve crew timecards, maintain daily reports, and provide regular project status updates to management
  • Respond to service calls, emergency issues, and field troubleshooting as required

MINIMUM AND/OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

EXPERIENCE:

  • 4–5 years of commercial electrical experience in a leadership or Foreman role
  • Experience managing crews, schedules, and commercial construction projects

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
  • Aerial Lift Certification preferred
  • Fall Protection Certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR preferred

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and commercial electrical practices
  • Proficient in conduit bending, layout, and equipment installation
  • Experience with power distribution systems, controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment efficiently
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and electrical schematics
  • Experience coordinating material takeoffs and maintaining jobsite inventory
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage crews in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in active construction environments

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment daily

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates primarily in commercial construction and service environments with occasional office-related responsibilities. Work may include indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to active construction sites, and occasional after-hours or emergency service calls.
