Job Description

Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent plus a minimum of six years’ experience in the repair/maintenance of radio, closed circuit television, fire and intrusion alarm systems and equipment. Two years of formal training in Electronics, or Electronics Engineering degree is highly desirable. Experience in the maintenance of other electronic systems utilized in a transit system is also desirable. FCC license or N.A.B.E.R. certificate highly desired.

Directs and coordinates the activities necessary to ensure timely repair of all malfunctioning radios, closed circuit televisions, fire and intrusion alarm systems and/or equipment of the MARTA rail and bus systems. Performs preventive maintenance, makes equipment and system modifications to improve operating efficiency. Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business. Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.

1. Assigns work to and supervises unit employees. Ensures day-to-day activities, in support of unit work goals, are completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner within established policies and procedures.
2. Coaches personnel on proper performance of work, frequently providing direct technical assistance.
3. Plans, monitors, evaluates and develops employee performance to maximize employee potential and maintain a high performance environment.
4. Monitors daily operations of assigned unit in accordance with established policies and regulations. Maintains up-to-date records on time and attendance and monitors work orders. Conducts inspections and verifies defects.
5. Prepares all required departmental maintenance reports in accordance with departmental protocol.
6. Performs and documents maintenance performed according to the standards in area assigned. Recommends changes in maintenance programs. Schedules equipment for maintenance checks and removal from service.
7. Monitors inventory of supplies, tools and equipment. Monitors work orders and ensures that sufficient materials are on hand to complete work efficiently. Notifies appropriate personnel when remaining stock falls below established levels. May coordinate/expedite purchase of services and equipment with vendors and assist in monitoring external contractors' quality and contractual compliance.

10.Performs other duties as required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
FCC license or N.A.B.E.R. certificate highly desired. (Acceptable applicants will be allowed up to six months to acquire the appropriate license or certificate.) Must be able to acquire and maintain a Level III Wayside Access Certification within the first six months of employment.
