Job Description

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We’re looking for a TBM Foreman to lead tunneling crews on shift and help drive production on a hard rock Main Beam TBM project. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role responsible for coordinating miners, operators, mechanics, and electricians during daily dig operations. You’ll ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in line with the shift plan - while staying ready to adapt to the unexpected underground.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead tunneling operations on shift, including mucking, utilities, conveyor systems, and ground support activities
  • Communicate shift goals, assignments, and safety updates to crew members and ensure clear handoffs between shifts
  • Support TBM startup, operation, and stoppage procedures alongside the operator and maintenance teams
  • Identify and escalate mechanical, electrical, or ground condition issues affecting production
  • Ensure all work is performed according to safety standards, SOPs, and engineering requirements
  • Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and performance feedback to crew members
  • Track shift progress and submit accurate reports/logs to the Superintendent and Tunnel Engineer

Qualifications:
  • 3–5+ years of underground tunneling or mining experience, preferably with Main Beam TBMs
  • Prior experience in a crew lead, lead miner, or foreman role
  • Strong working knowledge of TBM systems, ground support, ventilation, and underground logistics
  • Effective communicator and decision-maker under pressure
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and on rotating shifts

About The Boring Company

To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won't fall on your head. A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels). The key to making this work is increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more – this is the goal of The Boring Company. Fast to dig, low cost tunnels would also make Hyperloop adoption viable and enable rapid transit across densely populated regions, enabling travel from New York to Washington DC in less than 30 minutes.
