About the role
The Football
Coach is responsible for planning, leading, and delivering high-quality
football training and related activities for students across age groups. The
role supports the school’s physical education curriculum, extra-curricular
football programme, and competitive fixtures, while nurturing skill
development, teamwork, physical fitness, and sportsmanship in a safe and
inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver structured
football coaching sessions that develop technical, tactical, physical, and
mental skills for students of varying abilities.
Lead training during PE lessons,
lunch-time clubs, after-school sessions, and organised competitions.
Ensure safe and inclusive practice
environments; uphold safeguarding and child protection policies.
Encourage students’ positive
behaviour, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Organise and support school
football matches, inter-house games, and inter-school competitions.
Monitor and assess student
progress; maintain participation and performance records.
Assist with planning equipment,
risk assessments, and logistics for training and matches.
Communicate regularly with
parents, PE staff, and school leadership regarding player development and
upcoming events.

Required Qualifications
Relevant football coaching
certification (e.g., FA Level 1 or higher, or equivalent international
qualification).
Experience working with children
and young people in school or sports settings.
First Aid and safeguarding
training (or willingness to obtain).
Prior experience of minimum 2 to 4
years coaching football in a school environment.

Skills & Competencies

Ability to manage groups
effectively and adapt sessions to different ability levels.
Knowledge of child development and
national/international school physical education frameworks.
Enthusiasm, patience, and a
motivational coaching style.
