Delivers meals in bulk from senior activity center kitchen to congregate meal sites. May also deliver meals to identified homes in St. Mary’s County and other sites as directed; checks the status of the seniors at their homes. MAXIMUM 10 HOURS PER WEEK.
Scheduled times vary based on delivery schedule needs. Potential times worked are between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. for 2-3 hours/day

Examples of duties

  1. Delivers meals in bulk to the senior activity centers and congregate housing sites;
  2. Delivers meals to homes in St. Mary’s County;
  3. Checks current status of the consumers in their homes;
  4. Maintains records of meals delivered;
  5. Maintains County vehicles;
  6. Delivers interoffice mail and program supplies;
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary’s County Government policies and procedures;
  2. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle;
  3. Knowledge of County roads;
  4. Ability to effectively assess and evaluate the consumers’ needs;
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with consumers and staff;
  6. Knowledge of basic medical principles and concepts.

Supplemental information

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D. required; and
  2. Six months to one year of related experience; or
  3. Or equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Work requires moderate physical effort in the handling of materials or boxes 50+pounds and/or continual standing or walking of 80%+ of the time.


Work environment involves everyday moderate risks or discomforts including extensive driving and lifting.


Additional Requirements:

  1. Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;
  2. Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
