Job Description

Calling all ambitious great communicators with sales, communications or industry experience who want a job with meaning!

Want a full-time job working from home anywhere in Malaysia (some travel required) at a job that makes the world a better place? Set your own full-time hours, with room for growth and a results-driven atmosphere. This is a great role for productive, self-directed people who are highly skilled at interpersonal communication, who are resilient, and who want to do work that makes a difference in the sustainable foods sector.

Lever Foundation is a global non-profit that provides professional consulting services to large food companies and food producers to help them improve animal welfare and sustainability in their supply chains. Our partners include leading food companies like Burger King, Jaya Grocer, AEON, MYDIN, Marriott, OldTown White Coffee, and many others. You can learn more about Lever at: https://www.leverfoundation.org

As Food Sustainability Sales Program Manager, you will reach out to and build relationships with egg producers in Malaysia to educate them on new technologies and production methods that improve animal welfare and sustainability. You will help them understand the benefits of these improved approaches, connect them with relevant solution providers, and provide industry updates on the increasing market demand for such improvements.

In order to build these engagements you'll send emails and LinkedIn messages, make phone calls, join industry groups and conferences, and conduct meetings with companies. You’ll work from home and hours are highly flexible. You’ll have wonderful colleagues in the US, Europe and Asia who will work with and support you, and you’ll stay in close touch with them through calls, email and messages. Through this work you will have hands-on experience working with leading food producers on animal welfare with room for advancement to managerial or other positions.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals with very strong sales skills, and therefore with sales-related or advocacy experience. This could include successful experience in direct selling roles, sales/persuasion-related communications work, or similar non-profit advocacy work. Experience in the egg or poultry or other animal protein industry would be a plus, but is not required or expected, and you do not need to have any advance knowledge about the sector to do well in this role.

Ultimately, we want someone with the following personality traits and skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong ability to engage and persuade others
  • A "people person" that enjoys communicating with others
  • Success-driven personality, with strong internal motivation to succeed
  • Ability to work highly independently, with a strong work ethic
  • Resiliency — when you are ignored or brushed off, it does not discourage you but rather motivates you to try harder
  • Personal interest in sustainability, animal welfare, or food safety
  • Open to travel when necessary, as the job requires a modest amount of travel around the country to meet with producers
  • Fluent in English, Malay and Mandarin Chinese
