South Country is currently seeking a collaborative, results driven Food Store Manager to lead our Consumer Food Operations in Taber. This position offers the opportunity to provide strong operational and people leadership within a community focused retail environment.

In this role, you will oversee store operations, lead and develop teams, and support positive relationships within the Taber Community. As an engaged and visible leader, you will contribute to building strong local partnerships that reflect the Co-op experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound business insight, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to contribute meaningfully within the community we serve.

What you’ll do
Reporting to the Food Division Manager, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the food store, including sales, gross margin, and expense control, budgeting, and attainment of financial results. Responsibilities include meeting store standards, implementing and adhering to company programs, and human resources and administrative duties. The Store Manager will provide leadership to all positions within the store and exemplify and promote the Co-op’s branding initiatives

Who are you
You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and have:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a retail environment
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading a department or location in a large retail or supermarket environment (background in grocery, produce, meat, deli, bakery, or product specialist is preferred)
  • A diploma or degree in business, management, or a related field would be an asset
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and customer‑focused environment.
