Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Maintain an accurate inventory, make deliveries, fill orders, and check incoming merchandise. Keep school cafeterias supplied with the necessary groceries to service the children of the district.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED

Must be 18 years or age or older

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read and write

Good communication skills

Ability to follow instructions

Basic computer skills

Experience:

Experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
  2. Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  3. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  4. Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  5. Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using computer.
  6. Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
  7. Drive truck to various locations to deliver supplies. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  8. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
  9. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  10. Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
  11. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Environment: Position requires district-wide travel, occasional statewide travel; prolonged and irregular hours

Posture: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, carry, push-pull

Motion: Repetitive hand and elbow motions

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)

Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written form; effective

management and public relation skills; ability to maintain emotional control under stress
