Job Description

Part-time | BaptistCare Peninsula View| Frankston South | Aged Care Hospitality | $29.78/hr + NFP Benefits

You know a great kitchen is about more than just preparing food. It’s about helping create meals that bring people together.

At BaptistCare, mealtimes are an important part of every resident’s day. As a Kitchen Hand, you’ll play a hands-on role behind the scenes, helping our catering team prepare, serve and deliver quality meals in a welcoming aged care environment.

If you’ve worked in cafés, restaurants, hotels, bars, or events and want to use your hospitality skills in a role with real purpose, this could be your next move.

WHY HOSPITALITY STAFF LOVE THIS ROLE

Bring your kitchen skills into a more rewarding environment.

Instead of late-night finishes and high-pressure venues, enjoy meaningful work where your contribution directly supports the wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • $29.78 per hour
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging up to $18,550 — more take-home pay without needing a pay rise.
  • Flexible part-time shifts across a 7-day roster.
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
  • Supportive team culture with genuine purpose.
  • Employee Assistance Program — free, confidential wellbeing support.
  • Part of a trusted national organisation supporting 70,000+ Australians.

THE ROLE

Think of this as hospitality with heart.

Working as part of our catering team, you’ll help keep the kitchen running smoothly and ensure residents receive nutritious, enjoyable meals.

  • Assisting with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients
  • Supporting cooks and chefs with day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Preparing and setting up meals, snacks and beverages
  • Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen areas, equipment and food preparation spaces
  • Receiving, storing and rotating food supplies as required
  • Following food safety, hygiene and infection control standards
  • Supporting meal service and ensuring the kitchen is ready for busy periods
  • Working collaboratively with the broader hospitality team
  • Helping create a positive dining experience for our residents through quality food and service

ABOUT YOU

You’re reliable, practical and enjoy being part of a team. You’re comfortable working in a busy kitchen and take pride in keeping things clean, organised and running smoothly.

You might come from:

  • Restaurant or café kitchens
  • Hotels and catering
  • Commercial kitchens
  • Aged care or healthcare hospitality
  • Events and functions
  • Other fast-paced food service environments

What you’ll need:

  • Food Handling & Hygiene Certificate (required)
  • Availability for shifts across a rotating 7-day roster (mandatory)
  • Previous kitchen, food service or hospitality experience preferred
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene
  • Reliable, team-focused approach
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proof of working rights in Australia
  • Willingness to complete a medical assessment to confirm physical capability for the role

WHY MAKE THE MOVE?

Your kitchen skills are highly transferable — but here, what you do means more.

You’ll still enjoy teamwork, busy kitchen shifts and the satisfaction of getting things done, but you’ll also know that the meals you help prepare are an important part of our residents’ day.

Bring your kitchen experience somewhere it truly matters.
