We are seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to join our dynamic team at NAICA. The Food Service Worker will play a crucial role in executing daily food handling tasks, collaborating closely with the facility'sKitchenManager to ensure seamless operations aligned with long-term facility goals and compliance with federal, state, and city regulations.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties

The Food Service Workeris responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Preparing, inspecting, and handing out food and beverages for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Managing both unpackaged and/or packaged foods or beverages
  • Preparing andmaintainingcleanliness in the dining area during and after meals, including walls and tables.
  • Receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries of food, beverages, supplies, and related items.
  • Adhering to proper hygiene and sanitation practices while handling food.
  • Keeping the food preparation and cooking areas, including refrigerators, freezers, ovens, steam tables, warmers, and pantry, clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Ensuring proper storage and care of food items and supplies.
  • Following established procedures for food disposal and waste management.
  • Assistingin compliance with city, state, and federal building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Universal Precautions.
  • Attending and activelyparticipatingin facility and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintaining personal appearance, hygiene, and adherence to uniform policies and standards.
  • Safely and efficiently operating kitchen, cleaning, and mechanical equipment in the facility.
  • Skillfully navigating, resolving, and mitigating issues that may arise within the facility.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to travel todifferent locationswithin New York City, as needed.

Work Environment / ScheduleRequirements:

  • Staff must continue working past their shift unless relieved by another staff member or authorized to leave by a supervisor.
  • May berequiredto work on or during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) year experience working infoodservice environment is preferred.
  • NYC/NYS Food Handler Certificaterequired.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Ability tooperatekitchen, cleaning, and mechanical equipment, tools, and materials used in the facility.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge and experience in interacting with individuals with psychiatric diagnoses preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficiency
  • Good judgment with the ability to maketimelyand sound decisions.
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
  • This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
