About the Role

The primary purpose of the Food Service Worker position (Retail Services) is to assist in station set-up, serving food to staff, students, and visitors in retail services in a professional efficient manner; and to maintain an organized and clean serving/dining environment.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Delivers patient‑centered service by maintaining a friendly, safe, and respectful environment while modeling Service Excellence.
• Communicates clearly, resolves customer concerns promptly, and maintains professional composure.
• Works collaboratively to meet or exceed service expectations and customer service score targets.
• Sets up food stations, prepares orders, and serves customers efficiently in Retail Services.
• Performs cleaning and sanitation duties and handles food according to all applicable health codes and Joint Commission standards.
• Provides superior customer service aligned with UH’s Mission and Five Star Service Program; supports catering and other retail venues as needed.
• Adheres to UH compliance standards, including Corporate Compliance, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest policies, and stays current on relevant laws and regulations.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently to perform the duties of the position is required.
• Effective verbal and written communications. Customer service and hospitality- oriented.
• Attention to detail with appropriate follow through.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member in a flexible manner.
• Ability to establish effective relationships within a multi-cultural environment.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $17.63-$18.63 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
