As the Food Service Worker, you will help nourish our community by planning, preparing, and serving a healthy meals on Monday through Friday at the Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center. Light breakfast is prepared in house and daily meals are catered Monday through Friday. Daily tasks include light dishwashing and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment, and being able to track and record meals in an internal database system.

Job Classification

Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 30 hours/week (Mon-Fri 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, including unpaid ½ hour lunch break)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain a clean kitchen.
  2. Maintain a welcoming, gracious and professional manner at all times.
  3. Help create and plan monthly menus and shopping list for healthy breakfast & Brunch program.
  4. Receive deliveries of hot food from caterer, recording: time delivered, temperatures of food, verifying numbers of meals delivered and measurements of pans.
  5. Prepare breakfast snack daily basis.
  6. Take food temperature immediately prior to serving the lunch on a daily basis.
  7. Inventory supplies needed, complete and submit supply form in a timely manner.
  8. Ensure participants are registered in the meal program before serving food.
  9. Other daily administrative and hands-on duties as specified in Job Description.

Personal

  1. Successfully complete background check clearance before first day of employment.
  2. Provide verification to legally work in the US upon hire.
  3. Provide current California Driver’s License, proof of insurance and working car to shop for supplies (mileage reimbursable)

Requirements

Required

  • Basic food preparation and cooking experience.
  • Simple meal planning with emphasis on serving healthy food.
  • Food safety awareness and willing/able to obtain Food Safety Certification within the first three months of hire.
  • Basic computer and office equipment knowledge.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus, but not required for this role.
