About the Role:

The Food Service Worker I / Cashier plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service within a retail food environment. This position is responsible for efficiently handling food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Additionally, the role involves managing cash transactions accurately and providing friendly, prompt service to customers. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive shopping experience by supporting both front-end cashier duties and back-end food service tasks. Ultimately, this role ensures smooth daily operations that meet both customer satisfaction and organizational standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in food service or retail cashier roles.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Customer service training or certification.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food items according to established guidelines and portion controls.
  • Operate cash registers to process customer purchases, handle cash, credit, and electronic payments accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and dining spaces in compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist customers by answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing product information in a courteous manner.
  • Restock supplies and food items as needed to ensure continuous service throughout the shift.
  • Follow all safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe working environment for staff and customers.
  • Collaborate with team members to support efficient workflow and timely service delivery.

Skills:

The required skills such as basic math and communication are essential for accurately processing transactions and engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Attention to detail and organizational skills help maintain cleanliness and ensure food safety standards are consistently met.
