Examples of duties

This position oversees the preparation and delivery of food services to residents while directing staff and maintaining quality standards throughout the department. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Menu Input: Record resident movements, food preferences, and diet orders into the software system
  • Production Planning: Create and update daily food production assignment forms and ensure staff follow them correctly
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare menus, food quantities, and special function meals while maintaining accurate records
  • Meal Supervision: Oversee portioning, plating, and food handling to maintain quality, safety, and correct temperatures
  • Service Coordination: Direct meal and cafeteria service to ensure correct diets, controlled portions, and a safe dining environment
  • Staff Training: Provide training, orientation, and performance feedback to food service staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, rotating weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
  • Two years as a Food Service Worker (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.


Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualification (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
