Job Description

The Team:

As a Food Services Officer working in the RHH, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that plays a vital role in providing patients with nutritious meals and great service. The team works collaboratively to ensure the safe food preparation and handling, great service with a strong focus on hygiene, efficiency, and teamwork.

The Role:


In accordance with Agency policies, procedures, and guidelines, assist with food preparation, production, plating service, ware-washing, and cleaning duties in the provision of catering services to patients, visitors, and staff of the hospital.

  • Assist in maintaining a high standard of food preparation, production, service, meal distribution, ware-washing, and cleaning of the hospital service areas and in accordance with the relevant codes of practice.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitising all kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, and walls as directed by relevant supervisors and in accordance with relevant guidelines.
  • The position can cover either the morning or evening meal delivery service.
  • Hours of work can be between 7:00am - 7.30pm on any given day, working no more than 8 hours in any one day.
  • This position is Casual, and you would be expected to cover shifts at short notice.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in food preparation and production, cook-chill procedures and working within a large organisation.
  • Understanding of general food handling and food hygiene regulations and proven ability to maintain all work areas and equipment in a hygienic state, including maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance in accordance with food services policies.
  • Good communication skills with a proven ability to understand both written and verbal instructions and cooperate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing from May 2026 for approximately eighteen (18) months.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $57,130 to $62,486 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Plus 25% Casual Loading - Equivalent of $36.00 to $39.37 per hour.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Agreement Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
