Food Service Specialist

Our Food Service Specialist is focused on preparing our delicious Pete’s Eats within our retail store locations. We’re looking for someone that loves making food as much as we love eating it! The FSS will focus on maintaining the high standards of our food program, which we pride ourselves on being so much more than the ‘gas station burrito’. Focused on quality ingredients, this role will create food using the production lists of the store to ensure our customers always have something delicious to choose from when they visit.

About Stinker

Founded in 1936, Stinker is everyone’s first choice for work, convenience, food, family, and fun! Located across Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming, Stinker is a family-owned, people-focused convenience leader. Led by our Skunktastik Mascot, Polecat Pete, Stinker’s purpose is to make our world a better place by being a bright spot in the lives we touch- one employee, one customer, and one community at a time. Plus, we don't take ourselves too seriously- come on, we have a skunk as a mascot! We look for opportunities to have fun each day and ensure we make decisions that put our people first.

Now, what's in it for you when you join Pete’s Posse? Well, not only do you get to work with an amazing crew, but you also get a whole bunch of perks that makes life smell even sweeter. We're all about taking care of our people, and here’s how we do it:

  • Competitive Pay with merit-based raises, and profit sharing twice a year.
  • Extra $0.50/hour paid to all team members working from 10pm-6am- because late-night legends like you deserve a little bonus!
  • Access to the DailyPay app- so you can access your hard-earned cash whenever life strikes, in advance of regular paydays.
  • 6 paid holidays a year, and if you do work on a holiday, you get time and half as a thank you!
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) that grows with your tenure, so the longer you’re with us, the more time you get to relax!
  • Referral Rewards-you can earn cash by referring friends to join the Stinker team, if your friend gets hired! Your friends get a great job, and you get a sweet reward!
  • Health Benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and options for a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for medical and dependent care expenses, as well as accident coverage and optional life insurance.
  • 401(k) with a skunktastic 25% discretionary company match, because we want to help you build a secure future!
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to help you with life’s challenges- whether it’s managing stress, tackling financial issues, or navigating legal questions, the EAP provides support.
  • Great discounts for employees- because you’ve earned it.

So, are you ready to join a fun, growing company that values not just customers and the community, but our team members who make it all possible? At Stinker, we don’t just want you to have a job- we want you to have a career where you thrive, have fun, and grow with us. Because when you succeed, we all succeed!

What You’ll Do

  • Provide scent-sational customer service by creating a welcoming environment.
  • Prioritize food safety by adhering to proper food preparation guidelines, monitor food time/temperature standards and follow required label and time processes- no skunky business, just proper storage and handling.
  • Be a clean freak, in a good way! Ensure that all equipment cleaning and sanitation schedules are being adhered to and tracked.
  • Make food, obviously. You’ll learn the full Pete’s Eats menu and work with Store Leadership to ensure the store offerings match what customers are buying using store production lists.
  • Ensure proper rotation of product through the cold case and hot case.

What You’ll Need

  • Solution focused thinking- You get 5 minutes to complain, and then we solve problems and kick tail!
  • Effective time management. In the retail environment, one minute it’s slow, then the next there’s a bus full of customers hungry for food. We need someone who will rise to the occasion and go with the flow.
  • Prior food service experience is a plus.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and stay organized, maintaining a high level of attention to detail while multitasking (there are a lot of moving pieces and skunks headed in every direction!).

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age or older.
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  • You don’t need to be an Olympic athlete, but you do need to be able to balance on a step stool or step ladder, lift up to 50 lbs., and work from floor to eye level.
  • Able to work in a cooler at an average temperature of 32 degrees (hey, at least it’s not Antarctica).
  • Completion of our online Food Safety class within the first 90 days of employment

About Stinker Stores, Inc.

Stinker was founded in 1936 by Farris Lind. The first station was located in Twin Falls, Idaho. By 2011, the company grew to 65 retail locations spanning nearly 700 miles across Idaho. The largest expansion yet, was the purchase of Bradley Petroleum in Colorado and Wyoming in 2017. This expansion allowed Stinker to serve customers in three western states through more than 110 locations. Recently, Stinker expanded there Wyoming operations with the acquisition of Kaspar Oil in Rawlins. Through this purchase Stinker grew their footprint adding four more c-stores, a truck stop restaurant, and a wholesale and lubes business. Also part of the Stinker family is Arrowrock Supply, a warehouse distribution center, and Westpoint Transportation, a fuel transportation company.

Stinker Stores is fully committed to delivering the absolute best customer experience with each interaction. We are often asked about our training programs and hiring practices that lead to such positive customer interactions with each visit. Thinking of the customer first, we are always looking for ways to create the best possible experience from the time a customer enters the property to the time they complete their visit.

Stinker Stores and its employees support a number of causes and enjoy giving back to our communities. Charley Jones, Owner and CEO was recently honored as one of Idaho’s CEO’s of influence for his success in business combined with the company culture and community focus that he weaves into Stinker Stores.

Like it’s name, Stinker Stores is a fun place to work and shop. Many Stinker Stores employees have more than 10 years of service with others having in excess of 30 years. With a work hard, play hard philosophy, Stinker Stores is a fun and rewarding place to work – more than that however, it’s a family. It’s no wonder that when asked, employees often say they wouldn’t think of working anywhere else.
