Compensation: $23 - $28 per hour, depending on verification of experience and qualifications.

Position Purpose: The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of holistic resident centered, resident directed care that promotes maximization of function and promotes resident autonomy and choice. The Food Service Coordinator is also responsible for the management of all aspects of food service in the four houses, including elder satisfaction with meals and food, compliance with all practices that promote food safety and prevent food borne illnesses and compliance will all regulations.

What you will do:

  • Monitor the kitchen during food preparation for compliance with standards of safe practice and counsel staff when appropriate.
  • Maintains inventory and purchases supplies and equipment. Conducts weekly inventory and food orders with all food vendors. Monitors pricing, reviews sale papers, and negotiates with vendors.
  • Participate in development of annual budget related to groceries, supplies, and equipment.
  • Complete the food service observation checklist weekly. Reviews temperature logs and substitution logs daily. Provides input for food service observation/compliance report at the team meeting.
  • Facilitates the weekly menu planning meeting with the residents utilizing the menu planning software and forwards the proposed menu to the dietician for review and approval.
  • In consultation with the dietician and nursing, ensures resident and patient care plans related to modified diets are established and followed. Review food related resident satisfaction data weekly.
  • Provides training to staff as needed in all areas of food service. Participate in new employee orientation related to food service.
  • Performs food service-related functions as backup when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; post-secondary education in food service/science or related field preferred.
  • Strong culinary and menu planning skills required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of food service experience required
  • 1-3 years of leadership/supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Long-Term Care (LTC) experience required.
  • Computer skills required (MS Word, Internal, email, EMR).
  • ServSafe, CPR, First Aid, Dementia Care, Allergy Awareness, OSHA MDMS certifications required.

Working Conditions:

  • No responsibility for the direct supervision of any other employees.
  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, or other constant physical movements on a regular basis and frequent lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds.
  • Requires exposure to blood and various body fluids, which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.
  • Work requires ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Work requires some irregularity in scheduled hours because of overtime requirements, including weekend rotation
