About the Role:

We are seeking a Food Service Attendant for a Casual opportunity based in The Collaroy Centre, NSW.

Purpose of the Role:

The Food Service Attendant is responsible for the efficient and safe delivery of meal services, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all dining areas, kitchen facilities, and catering equipment. This role also involves assisting with food preparation and basic cooking tasks in accordance with food safety standards and workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Food Service and Guest Support

  • Set up and maintain clean and welcoming dining areas, including tables, chairs, condiments, and salad bars, as required.

  • Serve meals in a courteous and efficient manner, with attention to portion control, dietary needs, and overall guest experience.

  • Carry out food handling and service tasks under the guidance of supervisors, adjusting to the needs of different groups and schedules.

  • Contribute to meal setup and food service, adapting to a variety of service styles and group requirements.

Kitchen Assistance and Hygiene

  • Assist with a variety of cleaning tasks across kitchen and dining areas, which may include wiping surfaces, clearing food stations, cleaning windows, and vacuuming or mopping floors.

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures in line with organisational and regulatory standards.

  • Support kitchen staff with general food preparation tasks such as chopping, plating, portioning, or other duties as directed.

About You:

Professional and Technical Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a food service or hospitality role

  • Completion of food hygiene training and a current Food Handler’s Certificate

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with guests

  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under conflicting time pressures

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
