We’re currently seeking a Food Service Assistant III – Host/Hostess to join our dedicated Nutrition Services team. In this role, you’ll be the friendly face delivering meals and comfort to patients, ensuring their dietary needs are met with care and precision.
This position requires working all listed 10-hour shifts on a rotating basis.
Required Shifts Include:
7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
7:45 AM – 6:15 PM
8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
8:15 AM – 6:45 PM
8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
4:30 PM - 8:15 PM
Every other weekend and holiday rotation is also required.
Deliver meals tailored to therapeutic diets with accuracy and empathy
Collect and process patient menu selections and diet orders
Adjust menus based on dietary guidelines and patient preferences
Provide warm, attentive customer service to patients and families
Collaborate with clinical and dietary teams to ensure satisfaction and safety
High school diploma or equivalent required
6+ months of food service experience (preferred)
ServSafe certification (preferred)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read diet orders and perform basic math
Comfort using iPads and basic computer systems
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout your shift
Must pass a physical exam and drug screening
Comfortable working in patient care areas and around cleaning supplies

This position has a starting rate of $18.08 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.15 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.18 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
