The goals of the Food Service Department are to prepare and serve nutritional, appealing meals to patients, staff, visitors, and guests in a sanitary and safe environment. This will be accomplished through cooperation with other departments as well as through patient input. Therapeutic diets and nutritional education are provided upon request from a physician. Department employees will receive in-service training and be held accountable for maintaining department goals.

QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: High School diploma
Minimum Experience: 6 months work experience; related field preferred
Experience with quantity food and preparation methods preferred
Experience with operation and care of equipment in work area preferred
Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
Must maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
Must have some formal or on-the-job training in food preparation and cooking, or be willing to be trained
Must be willing to learn dessert and bread preparation and baking techniques
Must be able to prepare foods as directed, following standardized recipes and procedures
Must be able to work cooperatively with patients and staff
Must be able to rotate through other dietary positions
Must be able to keep work area clean and orderly
Must be able to work in temperature extremes
Must be able to stand and walk 90 percent of the day
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Must be able to repetitively push and pull large floor mop
Must be able to bend, squat, work on hands and knees, and reach above head
