POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

RESPONSIBILITIESand Accountabilities:

  • Coordinateand/or overseevolunteers andassisttheProgramCoordinator– Food Services infood rescue, food donationprocurementand distribution to community partners.

  • Record, track,analyzeandprovideactionable insights on food rescue data.

  • Lead volunteers and help with daily food donation organizing, measuring, packaging, anddistributing offood hampers

  • Work withProgram Coordinator– Food Services andvolunteers to prepare mealsand hampersforvarious programs

  • Assistwith food procurement through partnership development and community outreach.

  • Assistin special eventplanningregardingfoodlogistics,abiding by provincial health guidelines.

  • Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and sanitized premises

  • Collect and handle feedback from event attendees, program participants, and other community stakeholders in a professional manner.

  • Mayassistin ideationand planningoperations andlogisticsfor the futurecooking classes and other food programsalongside theProgramCoordinator-Food Services.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

Reports directly to theProgramCoordinator– Food Services

No direct reportstothis role. May provide generalsupervision tovolunteersor students

Maydemonstratework methods to new and current volunteers.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

  • May receive monetary or gift-in-kind donations and process to Operations Manager according to operating policies.

  • Material responsibility (proper handling/safekeeping ofdonations,some accessto confidential information).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Theincumbent’s work environment is typically in the food storage area and kitchen.

The schedule will be It should be 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The incumbent works ingenerally agreeableconditions, with the following exceptions:

  • Dealing with angry and abusive people

  • Temperature variations

  • Equipment and general office noise

  • Frequent standing and lifting of objects up to 50lbs.

Exposure to Hazards:

The incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm,injury,or illness due to:

  • Physical attacks by others

  • Exposure to infectious diseases

  • Other potentially dangerous situations

Precautionary measures:

The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):

  • Universal Precautions

  • Food Safe training

  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention training

  • Self-Care/Debriefing

  • First Aid Certification

  • Background check consentclear vulnerable sector screening

  • A clean drivers abstract

  • Completion of ourAbusePrevention Training andrequiredHealth and Safetytraining.

education and experience Qualifications:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Highschool graduate with some community college training in a related field.

  • Class 5 driver’s licenseis an asset

NOTE:  An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable

Experienceand Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Experience working with marginalized communities.

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural social services environment, anasset.

  • Experience with event planning,an asset

  • Experience in customer service.

  • Current knowledge of issues and trends including best practices in the enhancement of quality of life and food security.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and highly developed interpersonal, communication, multitasking, and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communicationskillstoestablishand maintain positive relationships with community partners.

  • Able to work with a team consisting of staff and volunteers in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Ability to adapt and prioritize many different tasks and initiatives.

  • Quick learner & self-starter.

  • Able to perform moderate lifting (50 lbs.) and physicallabourforlongperiods

  • Ability toutilizerelated equipment such as various word processing including MS Office applications and email.

  • Empathetic individual with the ability to work cooperatively, patiently, and effectively with others.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
